Cut List

Two weeks ago I ordered more fabric. I’ve received all 104 yards of it, and done nothing with it! I have a bit of anxiety about cutting into it for two main reasons: 1. what do I want to work with first? and 2. how will some of my patterns change now that I have a coverstitch machine?

All the knit pieces will made be differently now that I have this new, specialized machine. It won’t change the patterns much, but those patterns were designed to be made without that machine. Now that I have it, I could tweak the patterns. I just don’t know if that’s necessary. Apart from hems, I don’t really need to make anything any differently. Using the machine just to use it doesn’t mean it’s the best way to do things. But it does require me putting in the thought and making decisions about each and every seam in all my garments to make sure I’m using the best construction method available to me. That is daunting, and making it very difficult for me to start cutting into the new fabric.

Alternatively, because the coverstitch is mostly for knits, I could start cutting into the woven fabrics. I have lots of twills and 30 yards of linen, so that would be a very good place to start.

I’ve made my cut list, and my table is stacked high with all the new possibilities. I’m excited to get to work on all these new clothes!
